Triathlon and Fitness Holiday Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Ibiza and settle in. We'll start your Tri-It week with a medium paced group run and an introduction to open water swimming. Catch a few rays and get the lay of the land. Pre dinner, we'll enjoy a flexibility session on the deck, while chatting through the week ahead, and after dinner we'll start the first of our 1:1 sessions - an opportunity for you to chat through where you're at with triathlons, and what you're looking to achieve from the week.
Day 2: On your bike! We'll head out for a relatively long, but relaxed paced ride, to give us all a chance to get our legs moving and see some of Ibiza's stunning scenery. We can vary the distance according to your experience and what you're training for. Back at the villa for lunch, before we hit the beach again for open water swimming, focusing on techniques and drills - breathing, sighting, swimming in a group, and transitions. The evening will be a gentle walk or run, followed by a focus group on nutrition - both for general training and during your event.
Day 3: In the morning, half of the group will have their fitness assessments, where we'll look at your body composition, fitness, and biomechanics/postural assessment. From this we can help you calculate accurate heart rate zones and VO2 Max - useful for training - as well as suggest specific exercises for your body which will complement your existing training. These will help correct muscle imbalances and prevent injuries, as well as improve your performance as a triathlete. The other half of the group will head out for a run, working on drills, hills and speed work. After lunch, the afternoon is back on the bikes for a short ride, where we'll incorporate some sprints and hill work to get your muscles fired up and your heart pumping. Followed by another short run ... learn to love those lead legs as you go from bike to run. Trust us, the more you do it, the easier it becomes! Pre dinner, we'll have another flexibility session, before we talk through the theory of transitions.
Day 4: In the morning, we'll swap from yesterday - with the other half of the group doing their fitness assessments, and the rest run. The afternoon will be your first swim to bike brick, with an open water swim followed immediately by a bike ride. You'll have a chance to put that transition theory properly into practise! The evening will be all about core training - a critical addtiion for any athlete, designed to complement your training programme. A strong core is key to improved speed, strength and performance. Then relax!! Tonight's the night to kick back with a few sundowners, as tomorrow's a mellow one.
Day 5: Have a lie in and relax. Today, it's up to you what you'd like to do. We're on hand to help, chat or advise if there are any specific triathlon skills you'd like to work on. If you're full of beans and itching to keep moving, you can head off on your own or in small groups to explore. Or, you can heed the saying that 'you're only as good as your rest' and choose to do nothing but take time out to completely switch off.
Day 6: Triathlon Day! We couldn't have a triathlon holiday without linking it all together and putting you to the test. After breakfast, we'll run through the courses. Depending on the group and numbers, you'll have a choice of a short (sprint) triathlon, a long (olympic) triathlon, or an ultra triathlon (approaching half iron man distance). You'll have time to get ready and set up your transitions, before the whistle blows to start your event. It's an opportunity to put everything into practise, and see how much you've learnt. We think you'll be keen to spend the afternoon enjoying one of our favourite bonuses from racing - putting your feet up, and eating. A gentle pre-dinner stretching session will help your tired muscles unwind, before dinner and our second 1:1s. This is your chance to consolodate the week's experience and highlight anything you feel you'd like to do more work on.
Day 7: With tired bodies after a week of training, we'll finish off with another long - but mellow paced - ride, enjoying some of Ibiza's most stunning scenery. Our route will take in secluded beaches, where you can swim at your leisure or go for a relaxed run - or just lie in the sun. Today is all about enjoyment - no heart rate monitors, times, drills, or pressure. If we want to stop for lunch, ice cream, beer, or cut the day short to enjoy some r&r, no problem - you've earned it!
